Effect of Oster Hair Clipper w/ AC-DC Adaptor Class 2 Transformer Input AC 120V Output DC1.2V plugged to 220V? Only burnt smell from the adaptor. No sparks upon plugging.. Will it still work if I buy an adaptor from the hardware shop? I don't know much about electronics so I'm asking for advice and some clarification. Thank you

An unanswerable question to be honest... you can only try.

Have you not thought of taking them to the shop and asking them to try a new adapter for you? Best I can do I'm afraid.

Wow you went for a nice burn-out when you connected a 120 Volt adapter to the 220 Volt supply.

What you need is a 220 Volt adapter.

As far as I know 120 Volt is usually for America - 110 Volt but 117 Volt design and 220-240 Volt for England, Europe and Southern Africa.

This means first check what is the local mains voltage before plugging equipment into it.

Of course you do get the modern switchmode power supplies/chargers that operate from 110 to 240 Volt without any problems. But again read the label.
