As a newb with electronics, it may not be easy but certainly possible--we all have to start somewhere. right?
To the best of my knowledge, there are no specifics per-se. Various manufact's. use different sections of PC boards and when dealing with layered PCB's and tiny, tiny SMD components, it can get very difficult. In general, while it is still possible, failure of the components are a lot less than what it use to be. Majority of the time you may be dealing with bad/broken connection(s) that may be next to impossible to repair. A lot of times even if you do find a specific bad device, chances of finding replacements parts will be rare. ---not counting the difficulties with desoldering/soldering.
One thing you can do is to look-up for data sheets of the specific IC chips which will give you an idea of what circuit they are designed for. In a nutshell, it is more of an experience in dealing with different boards that something documented. |
