|
Hello Guys
I am an occasional collector of vintage audio gear such as turntables and tube and solid state amplifiers and radios.
A few days ago, I bought a National Panasonic Model R-100B multiband portable (ac/dc) radio which is in very good condition outside. The inside also looks as if no-one had ever worked on it.
After cleaning it outside I fitted 6 D-cell 1.5V batteries but there is no sound at all. I cleaned the band selector switch inside with some Servisol Super 10 contact cleaner but the contacts are not corroded anyway. When I switch the radio on, I can hear a soft 'thump' through the speakers but no hum, cracles or hiss.
The dial lights work, as do the band indicator lights. The radio operating voltage is set to 250VAC which is correect for our voltage.
The battery indicator meter works but the reception strength part of this meter is not working.
I also tried the headphone jack for sound but there's no sound at all.
What could be the problem? Please advise where I can find an owners manual and schematic please. I have pics if you would like to have a look.
Thank you.
