Turns out i blew a fuse. The fuse was covered in heat shrink.
The TV still works, but the backlight is really dim. I found out it had 22v, 800ma powering it at the time, so i wired 2 12v transformers in series, directly to the 48 SMD LED strip. It runs, but obviously it's not ideal. |

After sucessfully running my TV from a 12v, 1.5A power supply, i decided to hook it up to a car battery. But i used a plug that wasn't labelled. I had a 50/50 chance i would get it right.
As soon as i hooked it up, there was a spark from the wire. I connected it the other way around, and it didn't work. So i thought maybe the spark was normal. I hooked it up in reverse again.
There is very little visible damage on the board, but i replaced a capacitor that was unusually expanded. That didn't fix it, but later i noticed some surface mount diodes that looked damaged.
With little visible damage, and reverse voltage, is it likely i have only blew a few diodes? The jump starter i used wasn't fully charged, and i couldn't start a car with it. I'm quite new to self repairing circuit boards. |
