Dear friend i already encountered the problem with your kenwood. Vintage ampli is very lovable and awesome to me that i can't throw it away. My PIONEER A441 ampli seems to be like what happen to your kenwood. That click sound after you turn on the unit was the relay speaker protector it will click ON after 3sec.as normal.

First thing you do is look for a schematic diagram, have? This WEB is very helpful ask one. Trace that relay protector and see the transistor goes on it that transistor is the relay drive, connected to it there is a diode and a resistor by pass to ground. Try to check these components to be good and considering your relay protector happens to be good also. Some components happens to be good by checking on using VOM tester. But when you supplied normal current flow it will failed. Best thing is to replace new one with the same value.

Happy to help....

Hi,

I got a problem with that V8090 model as all sound outputs are staying silent, including headphone output, there's no sound either. Receiver seems to be completely mute, but it's not a problem with mute button.

There's a safety mute in amplifier for few seconds when starting it and after that I should hear click sound and then the speaker lines should be "on" but I noticed that it doesn't happen anymore, there's not that click anymore.

What I've done so far:

- checked mute button
- tried with headphones when speaker cables weren't on = no sound
- speakers and input devices work well with other amp
- there's not that faint noise even when volume is full, not with headphones either
- I also opened it and tried to look for any visual defects inside but couldn't find anything alarming

Receiver is already fairly old but I really like the sound combined with my current speakers so I'd like to fix this or at least to try to do something about it. Could somebody help me with this or have any ideas where I could start looking?
