| Work on them all the time...
Either you have somehow messed up the ribbon connectors( easily gets folded over where it goes in the plug) or it's a coincidence & it decided to quite at the time. Laser pickup is the number one failure on those units. Easy to find out.There are various built-in test modes which are helpful in diagnosis w/out having to disconnect anything. unless there is a man-made issue involved  |

| I have a Sony dvp-cx850d a 200 disk dvd player. it wasn't reading the dvd most of the time so i opend it up to see if the motor and laser was still working, i took the two ribbon cables off the board for the laser and put them back on and now i can't get unit to power up, red standby light is on when pluged in but when i hit the powe button red light goes out for 2 to 3 seconds and comes back on, i get no green light. any help to get player to turn back on would be very helpful. | |
