I have an older curtis mathis. It has gradually been fading in and out, both audio and visual, lasting in the duration of 2-3 seconds and it happens about every 5 minutes. What could it be and how should I repair it?

I have had the Curtis Mathis 32" TV for a few years. Last night, without warning, it shut off after being on for 4 or 5 minutes. It would not turn back on until I unplugged the power cord and replugged it. Then it was on for 4 or 5 minutes again and shut off. This happened a dozen or so times, at several outlets in the house, so I stopped.

Does anyone know my problem? Should I take it to a repair shop? My concern is a $70 diagnostic bill for a problem that is not repairable. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
