I got as far as 9.2 and then couldn't work out where one of the tabs was so put it all back together and gave it a try. Guess what? It works! Pushing the tab back that lifts the laser up to the dvd seems to have "fixed" it.

It opens correctly, just stops on the close. Which section is for realigning the tray?

| MECHANICAL ALIGNMENT IS POSSIBLY INCORRECT, EVERYTHING ON THIS MODEL IS DRIVEN FROM THE SLED MOTOR, IF TRAY IS OUT BY 1 TOOTH IT WILL FAIL TO LOAD CORRECTLY. NOT AN EASY MECH TO RESET, SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL SEND YOU THE INSTUCTIONS |

When I press the "close" button the tray starts to close then stops. The little piston that appears to close the tray moves a few times then stops. If I push the tray closed the disk just sits in the tray- the "spindle" appears not to move up to the disk (as I guess it thinks the tray is still open). So no it doesn't move if I touch the dvd.
Ideas? |

| TAKE THE LID OFF THE SET, WHEN THE TRAY CLOSES YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE DISC IN THE MECH, I USUALLY USE A COTTON BUD TO GIVE IT A START IN THE CLOCKWISE DIRECTION. |
