Tishiba televisions are know for bad convergence IC. They maybe intermittent especially when you say strange color screens appear. The first thing you should do is check for Bad connections on these IC. There are two of them so they can'nt be missed they are large Black Amp looking IC. Resolder all pins even if they look ok and try the set again. If its working of there you are, if it works a couple of days and starts to do it again i suggest you replace not only one but both Convergence IC, As you never replace one and not the other as you may have problems or the same symption again in future.. I have a toshiba 36 in flat screen tv. It has started to take a while before picture comes on screen, get sound straight away. Sometimes picture will disappear after a few hours. if you leave tv on (still with sound) the picture comes back on its own after a while. Also tv switches to standby by itself & strange coloured screens. With world cup coming my hubby and boys are going to go nuts if we cant get picture.
