Hello Kostas, Liakos,

I guess we all bought this TV from the same big supermarket chain in Greece... I had the same problem, I re-soldered many of the ugly-looking joints on transformers and some electrolytics on the power supply PCB, as you suggested, and the TV worked fine! Thanks!

"Dry joints" are cracked solder connections. The components are soldered in and need to be resoldered. Because heat expands and cold contracts as solder joints heat and cool they crack and cause intermittent connections. Reheating them and applying more solder fixes the problem. As lefteris said his poor solder connections were on transformer No. 5204. If it doesn't move, I resolder what ever I can get at.

I also had the problem with the sudden power down and red led flashing on a philips 29PT9416 crt. I only had to resolder the transformer No. 5204 on the power board. This board is standing vertically on the right side as we look the TV from the back. The 5204 is about in the middle.

I'm having the exact same problem.
Kostas, do you think I should try and locate that transistor and re-heat its joints?
My TV had schematics with the manuals, I believe with a bit of luck I can spot that T504. Unless of course you can inform me of its whereabouts.
