| I had this same problem awhile ago (about october 2006) and tried a multitude of things. In the end I sent it off to Canon under extended warranty and they replaced the tape head drum... for some reason.. but now it works.
$330 dollar replacement cost for them though... This probably doesn't help much, sorry.. |

| Initially displayed error message "unload tape" (or similar).
Now will not load cassette into camcorder - just pauses for a couple of seconds, makes a couple of beeps then releases cartridge. No dew indication. Tried different cassesttes. Any ideas? |
