| I tested it in-circuit and the results I got are 4.91 V input and 3.26 V output.
The small capacitor next to it is rated 16v 22uf and the larger one nearby is 16v 100 uf.

| No doubt it is some sort of a fixed regulator. Not sure of the numbers, but as long as it still works, you may want to measure the device in circuit to get some idea as to exactly what type regulator is;
You'd have input, ground & output pins. Looking at the closest electrolytics voltage ratings will also give you an idea. |

I'm looking for a replacement. It's from a Chrysler car stereo (2001) that has been experiencing power loss whenever it heats up. It will fail when the volume knob is adjusted or FM/AM button is pressed. I zeroed in on this part by applying heat and cooling it down. I tried it several times and this part seems to be the problem. Resoldering it didn't help. I guess I'm correct in saying that its a TO-220 package. The numbers(extremely faint) on the part are, 4828638AA WCCOLO116 Morocco There is also a small ST stamp on the part. Here is a picture of the board. I'm assuming the U5 on the board is the parts designation? Any help would be appreciated. It has been driving me nuts the past week. |
