sometimes the problem lies near the CRT base pins, the connector of the picture tube may be loose however care should be taken when dealing with this specially if u r not aware of voltages near this section. please remember that static charge remains even after switching off the TV. Do not attempt to pull off the EHT cable from the picture tube without discharging this static charge.
If there is a loud hissing sound from the back of the TV then there could be High Voltage leakage from the EHT coil thus causing the problem in ur set. I would suggest in this case u would need an experienced technician to look into this problem

the picture on my tv keeps flicking on and off but the sound stays on does anyone know what the problem is and could i fix it my self or would i need an expert? thanks in advance
