There is no service manual for this printer. It is yet another one of the HP disposable' line.

I have an HP Deskjet 9650 printer. The center button red ight paper feed light stays on (not blinking) and the printer won't print. At first I was able to eliminate the problem by pressing on the rear access assembly. Now that won't help. I cleaned the four brass contacts on that assembly but still no solution. I believe that when not printing, the light indicates that either the rear assembly is not installed, or the upper cover is open...
I need a service/repair/disassembly manual (or just a few pages) that can guide me to open this printer up to check continuity on the various sensor switches that I expect are putting this device in an error mode.
Thanks-in-advance for any advice (or a link to HP where I can print out a manual--probably with my HP Deskjet 832C--which is barely hanging in there)

PS: I also noted that the rear label shows "Model C8137A", but my Getting Started Guide and installation CDrom clearly say "HP deskjet 9650-9670-9680"
PS-2: This print has also been giving the "black ink cartridge installed incorrectly" error message for months... this didn't affect the printing but I'd like to solve that mystery also. (I did check all the pins in the "56" cartridge cradle, and contacts on the inkjet cartridge... they all look good) |
