I know I can get to the lamp housing at least. I don't believe the tv has side access but I'll double check.

I take it the mirrors/lamp are separate assemblies then?
..not so easy as I thought it'd be at first glance.

If your looking to find dust on the optics or mirror, you need to pull the screens off or see if the set has side accesses.

I was figuring it would be as simple as dust or dirt in the light engine, but I'm relatively new to DLP. Is there any proper guideline to follow when cleaning the mirrors? Sounds stupid, but I'm just being cautious. Special hardware usuall requires special maintenence, that's all the reason I ask. Smile

Thanks for the quick response btw.

It could be an optical illusion. Play a dvd where you can see the spot and pause it. Cover the screen completely with you under it and see if it's not out side light refracting thru the screens. If it's still there I'd say dust in your light engine.

Long story short, my new DLP tv has a faded gray circle that shows up during moments when the screen is black during viewing. Is this a serious issue?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. This information has seemed tough to come by.

Thanks in advance!
