Update:

I could adapt the X-window parameters to get the image inside the
screen, and the H and V frequencies are within the documented
ranges. Things are not well yet, though. In text mode, the image
is still way too wide (at standard VGA frequencies).

An extra detail is that the original problem appeared gradually -
excluding some configuration problem in the computer. Just
thought I'd clear that up.

Still open for ideas!

Hi all.

My wife's Samsung 550s's image is too wide. All controls work normally,
except that width control cannot get the image in range. Checked voltages,
scope patterns. Measured the 5.6nF hi-voltage C parallel to the horizontal
DY - all seems normal to me.

Oversize is quite large - at least 20% each side (at minimum of the width
control). Voltage range at the size control seems reasonable too (about
3 - 24Vrms).

I'd appreciate suggestions!
