If you read Consumer Reports, you'll see that extended warranties are a bad deal, especially since manufacturer's warranties generally cover the first year. I do agree thought that the LCD is the better buy.

Agreed, LCD's seem to hold up longer & Ext warranty is strongly recommended.
While not fan of the DLP (due to annoying rainbow effect & having a light bulb
& spinning wheel that will need replacing), The LED based model put out by Samsung looks promising (no light bulb or color wheel to wear out). |

Plasma's don't leak, but aren't holding up very well. LCD seems to be fairing better. No matter, take the extended warranty no matter what you buy. |

I am currently thinking of buying a new Television but can decide between Plasma Or LCD. I was told that Plasmas leak as soon as you turn them on and gives them a short life span (any truth to this). |
