Hi again,

now I have: my Preamp sitting in front of me, the replacement GoldCap and no idea of how to disassemble the 1000SD in a way thet I won't have to worry about unneccessary work. The Schematics are OK, but how do I get to the digital (the lowest) board without completely tearing the device apart?

Thanks in advance for tips from skilled technicians Smile

A direct link to the service manual:
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/filedownload.asp?Sub=&file=TAE1000ESD_sm.pdf

BTW-it won't cost you this way and you can get other Sony service manuals by adding in the model number :

For example to get STR-DG510 SM
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/filedownload.asp?Sub=&file=TAE1000ESD_sm.pdf- replace TAE1000ESD with STRDG510 or whatever model name you need a SM for.

Thanks for the error description! I'll try to locate the C1011 - if I can't find it, I'll try out the schematics.

Memory is backed up by means of backup capacitor. Due to age, they will dry out or leak out. In the case of TAE1000, the culprit is capacitor C1011 located on digital pcb. (rated at .1F @ 5.5V)

The title line tells it all - to be more specific: the device looses it's memory when removed for the main power... should be buffered for some days.
Thanks in advance!
