Take the cable out of the box and hook it up direct to the set and see if you have sound.

Hi I had some problems with my tv as well for me in the end it was the cable, I was looking for a solution on the web finally I found a great tech support site that have free live chat support. Here is the page for Sony Support just click on live chat I hope you will find some answers...

Yeah, I have sound coming from the DVD player and with my surround sound if its on the DVD or on FM or AM

Did you fire up the DVD player to see if that has audio?

While surfing today with my TV, When I landed on the channel I wanted. There was no sound. NONE. It was fine when I started changing the channel. Is there a quick fix or something I need to be looking for? I do have digital cable tv and checked all other working units in the house. All other tv's are fine. Please Help!!!
