You could try replacing the flyback. |

Nope ! The set came back to solid black background color when being set to VIDEO1 input without any input connected. The VIDEO1 text came back from an ugly fuzzy state like in the image i posted, to a CLEAN green bright text.
I switched to the tuner input, the snow wasn't 'pinky' anymore.
Then, i connected an rca video source to video1. Image was clean and perfect.
After some time, image came back to greenish and pink whites.
I'm affraid i'm gonna break the crt tube by hitting that hard on it.
Thanks, Vincent. |

So are you saying your set shuts down in tuner mode and comes back on video 1? |

Minnie; i really wonder what's the issue here. I've tapped HARDER on the neck of the crt with a rubber screwdriver. Picture went rock solid black, and the 'VIDEO 1' text on the screen suddently went as clean as it could be. I hooked a video signal, and screen was really nice, colors and all.
After 30 minutes, i noticed colors went back slowly to the more darker and pink state. What's my exact issue here ? 2 of the wires in the crt are shorting ?
Thanks, Vincent. |

Okay. So it's the tube.
Would a B&K Precision CRT tube regenerator work on my unit ?
I've got 2 of those units now i've found today. Some retired tv repair man gave them to me today, model 445 and 467. I'm just missing the CR-XA or CR-23 adapter to fit on the tube to rejuvenate it.
Minnie, or Frank or anyone got a clue if it would bring it back to life ? Thanks, Vincent. |

Ditto.
Set the screen so the picture isn't blurry and you see retrace lines. |

Um.. Ok. After a few tests, it seems that the brightness affects the tv's behavior ? If i crank it up at the max, tv restarts to flicker. If i put it to the lower setting it looks more stable ? Is there anything i could do to fix the current state of the tv ? Thanks !
Oh, here's a picture of the tv display right now, it's greenish and i've enabled the PIP to show the pink tint of anything that should be white. Thanks ! Vincent.

Hey, thanks for the replies. I got it to work again !! Picture is stable now. I tapped on the CRT glass part with a screwdriver's handle and image came back stable. It works for 10 minutes now. What is it exactly ? A broken wire or short in there ? Picture is still a bit pinkish but works fine. Thanks ! Vincent. |
