Thanks Andrew for your response.

I cannot find any kind of nipple to which to attach a rubber tube on the printhead. Could you explain exactly where it is on the printhead? What is the meaning of S/S? I hope this knowledge will enable me to see what to do.
Thanks if you can help in this regard.

The ideal cleaning method is a small syringe with a short rubber tube sealed to the tip that will fit over the S/S filter. Gently force hot water or warm ammonia based cleaning solution through the head to clear the jets. Soaking the printhead in warm water for a while first will improve results. You should be able to find a commercial glass cleaning spray (blue liquid) that will work well. Be gentle but firm and you should see the jets produce a fan of spray. I it is blocked or forms a solid jet - Buy a new printhead.

My printer will not print anything after no use for a year or more. Ink still wet at ink outlet on cartridge. The maintenance tabs 'Cleaning' done and 'Nozzle Cleaning' done which prints out nothing. Double clicking the button on top of unit for a test page prints nothing.

Canon support says if the above fails then a new print head may work. These cost £54!! so best to buy new printer but I loved that 2100 and want to get it working again. Is there anything I can do to refurbish the print head without destroying it?
Any advice appreciated.
