By putting it in the drying cupboard for a week, the problem disappeared and the camera works fine now.

Although the LCD display calibration mode is still a mistery to me.

Hi, I have a problem with my Sony DCR-HC 40E videocamera recorder.

It has been working fine for taking digital photo's on the memory stick and recording images on the tape.
Somehow the icons on the flip display don't respond to the touch buttons when in PLAY/EDIT mode.

I read in the manual that because of perhaps dampness which is possible, because we have been to the snow for a few days, the LCD screen calibration may be out.

In the Sony service manual on page 132, the 4 steps are listed how to recalibrate the LCD display settings.

In step 4 i can get the X and CALIBRATION words on the screen, but when pressing on the X or near the X there is no response.

What am i doing wrong here or are the instructions translated wrong from Japanese into English ?

It is a pain because now i can't play the video tapes or reset the memory stick duo, because this has to be done via the LCD screen buttons.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Raymond
