| You may have an iq of 145, which means nothing in the real world- just as your doctorate in physics means nothing- the simple facts are that you can,t fix a simple fault in your tv- you have to come on this forum, begging for advice- Well, dumbo, I have never had to beg anyone for help for fixing anything, which I do!. | Hee hee, you're fab. Had already tried reattaching the wire and now tried replacing capacitor, which was why I'm asking if anyone has a better insight, or worked on one of these before and knows what they are talking about. PS last time I looked I had a PhD in physics and an IQ of 145, so if that rates 'dumbo' please rate yourself appropriately. |

| Yup! Done that, looks like that is the only place it can have come from. However there wasn't an obvious 'missing wire' since it already has another attached in the same place so I'm not convinced I'm correct. It doesn't seem like standard practice to solder two wires into the same location on a board. Someone familiar with the particular board set may be able to tell me whether that is the case. Someone more familiar with wiring diagrams may be able to make sense of the fact that C700 is an isolated capacitor that seems to go to ground at one end and has a symbol for 'wire connector' at the other. But I can't figure out from the diagram where that goes to at the other end of the wire. Actually not quite such stupid questions. Thanks for your errr... help ! Hopefully there are more useful and generous people around. |

| If you use that thing between your ears(commonly called a brain), analyse- where did the wire break from- where does it reach to- what is the retained "memory-ie- set of wire"- look, noone can analyse from afar- it is all just common sense. | |

| Hi, There's a brown wire coming from C700* down at the left hand side. The other end has broken off and laid along-side the HT screen wire. This has been arcing across and making a nice blue glow ! I'm only getting a grey screen with light raster lines at the moment. 2 questions:- Has this wire snapped of from PL904 on the tube circuit board ? It would be connected to the same place as the green earth wire that earths to the mechanical screen retaining wire. Is it likely to have blown anything other than C700? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks kevin |
