While it could be an adjustment issue, it may also be a dry capacitor or mpx decoder IC, as that is a vintage model.---- Dirty contact switche(Mono/Stereo) or even a bad indicator lamp would be the first thing to check.

Most likely, the PLL for the stereo decoder needs adjustment. Obtain a service manual and follow the alignment procedure outlined there. Usually, there is a test point where you should connect a frequency counter and then adjust a trimmer for 19 or 38 kHz at no input signal to the radio.

A simpler method is receiving a stereo transmission and adjusting the trimmer to the centre of the range where the stereo indicator lights up.

My Sony STR-6060FW receiver won't play in FM stereo, only mono. The antenna signal is strong and the receiver plays stereo with CD's so the issue is only with FM. Flipping the stereo/mono switch does not help. Any suggestions are most welcome.
