I have a Sony KV-27TS27 (SCC-E54A-A chasis) that had poor colors (whites that were black, reds that were blues in some spots, etc) when using the VHF / UHF input on the back. The RCA video input worked perfectly so I suspected the tuner to be the culprit.

Not knowing much about diagnosing TV's I consulted to another forum in which someone suggested resoldering T01, T02, and T03 in the IF module (IF model# 1-464-756-21), as well as replacing all 4 caps.

Now the TV has excessive white (on both RCA and VHF / UHF inputs), and no sound, unless the sound inputs on the back are used. Their is still a picture, but it is very faint with all the white. I replaced the original caps one by one but have the exact same results. I also triple checked all solder connections made, and am confident they are all good.

I suspect the heat from the soldering iron might have damaged one of the coils, but am unsure if my symptoms correspond with an IF module problem.

do my symptoms match a problem with the IF module?

was my original color problem probably related to the tuner?

any help greatly appreciated, TIA!
