I have already repaired one problem with the set. It was recently moved and a small amount of coolant leaked out of the red CRT's optic assy and as expected, there was a hole burned in the anode cup and it was arcing to the chassis ground and the set was shutting down quickly after attempted startup (as it should). I took the red CRT/optic assembly out, cleaned up the existing anode cup and cable and coated the cup in clear silicone, as well as made a shield for it out of white polypropylene. Worked like a charm. No arcing and all CRT's fire up.
Alas, that was not the only problem. Not too shocked about it though.
So yeah, the set fires up, HV and all. OSD functions, displays on the screen, alignment and focus are good, all of the front panel controls work, and sound works from tuner and audio in. Just no picture on composite in or tuner. Checked for coolant or water spots elsewhere, as well as burnt up components.. didn't find any. I forget if the set has PIP, but the next time I'm out there, I'll check and get a model #.
All I remember about the set right now is that it's roughly 52'' diagonal, RCA, and made in 1993. I'll have to post a model # later. |
