Hello all forumers

My father owns a Samsung rear projection TV, model SP-43Q1HE. A few months ago he noticed the image was not satisfying as before, so he ordered some repairing service from two different Samsung-authorized repair shops here in Portugal. Of course, it didn't work, the image quality even got worse. As he was desperate and noone would help him, he took the irresponsible step to mess with the service menu and used the RESET function.
Of course, now the tv doesn't work. There's only sound, no image and he cannot access the service menu again cause the tv won't turn on...
I guess he will need the factory settings now. The warranty period is over and the repair shop won't provide him the factory settings. They insist they have to take the tv to the shop for service, and that would cost a lot. Is it really necessary to service the tv parts inside, or are the service menu settings enough?

Does anyone know where to get a service manual with the factory settings? Or maybe we should just forget about it and let the pros deal with it? I mean, can it get worse than it is, if we get the factory settings and do it ourselves?

But how to enter and use the service menu if we have no image?

Many thanks!

Israel
