If dust covers the lense, it can cause the problem

Just about all you can do is to try cleaning the lense. If possible, try using compressed air in a can or better yet clean the lense with alcohol/Qtip.

Otherewise it is not worthed. OR may be if not too far from warr, you could try caling SamSy & biatch about all the problems sometimes they may give you credit Or fix under warr.?

I have a Samsung DVR - VR345 Combo unit...about a year old. When trying to format the disk in order to record, I receive the message "Cannot format disk due to error detection".

This occurred ocassionally when I first purchased the unit, thinking that there were a few faulty blank disks in my 100-pack. But, now it happens all the time, so I am unable to record. The unit now even has trouble reading DVD rentals (ex. Blockbuster).

The disks are not dirty, dusty, faulty or damaged in any other way. Obviously, the DVR player is at fault. My question is whether or not this is an easy fix. Is it as simple as running a "cleaning disk" through it or something, or will it require a repair that will be beyond my budget. I only paid $250 for the player, so I don't want to invest in a large repair.

Thanks for your help.
