Often, there is a duplicate nameplate glued somewhere inside the set, for example on the cone of the CRT. Another possibility is that the chassis designation might be printed in the silkscreen print on the main PCB.

For identifying the year of manufacture of a tv, take a look at the date codes of some ICs and other components. Most european and american ICs have a YYWW marking (two digits year, two digits week), japanese manufacturers often use a YM marking (the last digit of the year and a letter for the month).

I got a Sharp 27" tv that was sitting outside for a while and there is no sticker with a model # on it. can someone tell me where else to find some way of identifying this thing so I can get a service manual? I can send a pic of it if that helps. I'm guessing it's about 10 years old, just a guess. thanks.
