I didnt even try to diagnose the problem. I just found the listed parts at a local shop and changed then. The kids only missed a few hours of cartoons that day. My wife didnt even miss American Idol. Thanks for the information. I am now looking for other TV's to fix. Also, if you are local to Orange County CA and need the parts, i have extra. I had to buy 5 of each. It still only cost about $10 total. If your local and need parts i will give them to you. My email is [email protected]

Just to post an update. All is well. Was able to get the parts off a scrapped TV from a local repair store(at no cost), installed the parts, and watching TV again. I appreciate the the information available from this site. Thanks.

Are you sure on those specs? I'd heard elsewhere that the cap was 100uF @63v. and the fuse was 2A. Can anyone confirm because I'm going to have to match them up. Thanks.

I read through that post, and think that's probably the the same thing I'm experiencing. I checked the C707,but no visible indication of a problem. Would you suggest replacing these two parts and see where I stand? Also, do you know a good place to order them from?
The burning smell seems to located closer to the E994, actually a little left of it, as opposed to near the C707. Does that mean or indicate anything?

If the fuse is bypasses you'll fry your power supply. Look for C707 and look for the black hole in it.

Check to see if E994 is open is the first place to start.
