Hi this is John I have the service manual and it doesn't show what kind of grease to put on the guide rail but it shows the grease that goes on the gears
which I have. I called panasonic and they were no help. All I know is that the grease I need is light brown in color but I need a part number so I can order it from pansonic. Thanks!

Do you know where I can get the service manual for the SL-L20?

Hi this is John I do have a copy of the service manual, do you have a problem with your turntable? If your turntable doesn't track properly I
would replace the small tonearm belt and I'm pretty sure the grease has
dried out just like mine did. I just found out what kind of grease panasonic
used on the tonearm guide rod, it is silicone grease. But I still never figured
out what they used on the guide rail base.Hope that helps!

I've tried phonolube but it's only for gears and not for sliding surfaces. The grease I need has to be a slightly tacky grease. I believe it's the same kind of grease they use on cassette boomboxes which make the door open slowly.

You don't need a panasonic grease...search for "phonolube" which is more than adequate in your application.--make sure to clean out the old grease first. isopro. alcohol does a good job in cleaning out the dried-up grease.

Well, did you ever think of wiping off the old grease and putting some new grease on?
