It is actually a voltage suppresor diode/device. Also known as "Tranzorb" or "Transil". Basically it is constructed like a bidirectional zener diode capable in conducting in either direction. It is strictly designed to act as a protection clamp and rated accordingly.---in this case, it is designed to clamp any possible transients above 150volts and can withstand ~ to 5 A before it will short out. As long as the threshold of 150V is not reached, it has no effect in the circuit .

Dear Members,

i just want to know about the name of the component that, is it a ZENER or what ? because i have searched the symbol but not find any that what does it. i am attaching the data sheet marked with red circle ( V101 ), and the datasheet is for Monitor CTX 2085 which was submited to the website http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/7664/CTX_2085XE.html
