Thanks Gary.
It is indeed a philips CRT. If the blue + flyback can't be cured, there's no point in repairing. There's no fix for this that you know of?
(it's a nice TV, seems a shame to just bin it)
I'd managed to improve the pincushion a bit in service mode, but wasn't about to go nuts in there until the picture problem was fixed.
Cheers! |

set is fitted with a philips crt, 99% likely that it is the cause of the blue tinge and flyback lines, not worth replacing, volume problem, try replacing capacitors on output ic's supply rail. pincushion is probably just a case of slight adjustment in service mode but bear in mind you will not get it perfect as the e-w circuit in that set is not a "precision" circuit. |

Hopefully the title says it all!
This TV has two faults, the screen has a blue tinge, with horizontal lines across the screen, about 1" apart. The picture is also slightly "pincushion" when you put it into 4:3 mode, and you can see the blue tinge extends beyond the picture about 1" each side.
This happens on both UHF and SCART.
The other problem is when the audio contains a lot of bass (not high volume, just bassy), there is a digital-sounding distortion, a squeak\pop sound. I've tried resoldering the audio amplifier already with no change. Pressing on the board seems to give a faint rustle as the board flexes.
Anyone got any ideas? Any help is welcome. |
