By shotgun approach I meant, When/if there is no service information available, you can try testing various components around the defective stage & possibly find the cause & repair the circuit.--provided you have the basic device theory knowledge. In your case, it may only be the IGBT's but, if there are any burned or leaky components, it may be rather difficult to pinpoint & rather time consuming.

Hi vtech,

thanks a lot for your help. What do you mean exactly by shotgun approach?

Hi all,

I am currently trying to service a battery charger using a switch mode power supply. I already found the IGBT's destroyed but I would like to have a schematic of this charger if anyone has it please?!

The battery charger is a product of Exide Technologies
Model no: 1CHL024V025GZRO
Serial no: RG105

The PCB inside is of CMP batteries limited with a model no: 4CMP270001PCB

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Regards Rodney.
