Last night I went into the service settings and has a fiddle around and it seemed to make no difference. To my astonishment I switched the TV on this morning and sound has miraculously returned!
DVD didn't play by the way - it definitely wasn't a loss of sound from the incoming signal because other TVs in the house were fine and - no - the mute button hadn't been inadvertently pressed!
I'll see how it goes - might still be an intermittent fault that will return to plague me. |

|
Our JVC TV has suddenly lost sound on all channels. I've checked it's not muted, speakers enabled in the menus etc. When it first happened we got messages onscreen along the lines of memory errors. I managed to clear these but still no sound. I was wondering if I had inadvertently entered service mode and disturbed the sound settings. I don't know a great deal about TVs but I understand that nowadays they are more akin to computers and possibly flash memory has been corrupted. I have read of 'memory dumps' - not exactly sure what this is but I'm guessing it might be possible to reinstal the software.
Could someone please advise if I am on the right lines. If there is a hardware fault it would probably be best to get a new TV because this one is now 7 years old. If I could somehow 'reinstall the factory software' though that might do the job. I work in IT but haven't a clue about TVs!
