I am afraid there is no easy way to test the hall effects. All you can do is to make sure that there is no connection issue from the connector to the drive IC. It is even possible to have a connection issue where the sensors are soldered which usually requires dismantling the motor itself(you will never get it back together w/out proper tools though).

So, sounds like you just may be out of luck? The "magnetic force" feel you are describing does sound very much like a sensor failure. Make absolute sure there is nothing like a cracked pcb run or a connection issue....otherwise, Perhaps someone, somwhere may still have a junker or time to punt. Wink

If the drum is not physically binding and free to turn and you have the drive and supply voltages present and not buckling under load, it is likely the drum motor itself( although rare, failure of the hall sensor inside the motor can prevent operation).

My old VCR Panasonic NV_G10 need repair, all is working fine except the play function. Drum doesn't spin up, just a little movement and then all stop. Replaced AN6387 (Cylinder Motor Servo) but no luck. Thanks' for any advice.
