There are in fact cases where flat cables or flexible PCBs are glued in place. Mostly when one of the cable ends is connected to something that cannot withstand solder heat, i.e. a LCD display with electroluminiscent (EL) backlight. But in those cases, a small glue dot is screen printed on each pad of the PCB, like the solder paste for mass production of SMD assemblies. This is very difficult, not to say impossible, to do in a repair shop.

You would not want any conductive glue for attachment of a ribbon as it will effectively bridge every trace?. I have never seen a ribbon-to-pcb connection only by means of glue?---it is normally used more as a re-enforcement of the connection.
Not to say that it does not exist but for proper electrical connection, you need more than just glue.

I have a device with a low voltage flat wire ribbon cable that links a circuit board to an LCD display. The cable was glued to the circuit board. The glue appears to have dried out and the cable is now detached. Any advice on how to reattach (I can align the wires in the circuit board to the cable, so this is not a problem). (I suppose I would need a glue that would conduct electricity? If so would there be a "bridging" problem?).Thanks!
