Okay.
I was just hoping it was as easy as a tuner swap.
I own the sr-w5u and it is the best picture quality available for ex-rentals.
It has so many technical accomplishments not given to the PAL part of our world, and most of my ex-rentals that I want to convert to digital format are in PAL. So, in essence, I was hoping to convert one of these machines to be able to utilize their TBC and other filters/hardware that makes old VHSs closer to perfect than any other machine created for VHS.
It's sad that you guys think it is more involved.
If there is anyone who thinks it is do-able, I'd be interested in speaking to you.
Thanks for the responses. (oh, and I already have 3 PAL VCRs including a JVC 9700eu... it's more about getting the w5u to do PAL than have a PAL vcr.)

I think it is a better deal to find an used dual-standard VHS machine, for example at Ebay. |

far more involved than just changing the tuner, in is not practical to convert the machine, there are far too many basic differences, the 2 systems are so different, number of lines, frame speed, colour processing etc. |

Are there any suggestions as to converting the hardware in a JVC W-VHS from an NTSC format to a PAL format?
Could it just be switching out, or adding a PAL tuner from another JVC high end prosumer VCR? or is there more? |
