Multimeter = YES Measure resistance of resistors and compare to value written on them.
Desolder = YES Always desolder first, then remove old device, replace with new device and solder.

Many "How to" videos on you tube.

Sorry for double posting but I just realized I need to pull this board out entirely and desolder the underside where those pins from the IC go in don't I? Argh. I am not electronically inclined. I might need a walkthrough here or a link to one if anyone has such a thing.

Thank you,

Hey again,

I have those IC's unscrewed but I'm having trouble actually REMOVING them from the board. I don't want to force it too much and risk breaking something-any suggestions you could provide to get those out? I haven't removed the heat sink because I see no obvious way to do this. I unscrewed the two obvious screws holding down the unit. I do not know where to go from here.

Also, how do I check for open or changed value resistors in the area? I'm unsure of what you mean by that. Are we talking multimeter time here or is there some other check I should be doing?

Thank you for your help,
Huxley

When you have IC's pulled, check for open or changed value resistors in the same area.
Yes, flash focus should work again.

Hey Jts,

Thanks for the reply. Once they come in and I put them on, are there any procedures that I need to follow to get this convergence back to normal? Should the flash focus work afterwards?

As to where to obtain: here's two options

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/search.aspx?C=&K=STK392-150

The convergence IC's are on the "D" board. The D board is on the left hand side with the back off. They occupy the largest heat sink.

Hey again all,

I took a picture of the back of the TV. Could someone please point out where the STK392-150's are and where I can purchase them? Also, a link on how to install them if one exists? Thanks for any help!

I'm on my way out the door, but if I take a picture of the boards and post them, could you point to what is what? My knowledge of this TV is limited.

Thanks for the reply,
Huxley
