In the past, Weller used RTD (platinum or nickel) sensors in their solder irons.

Maybe the simplest way of figuring out the specs of the sensor is to try connecting various resistors to the base instead of the sensor and check what the corresponding temperature is. If the base has a digital display, just read it out , and if it doesn't have a display, turn the temperature control back and forth to see at which setting it switches current to the heater on and off.

Hi All
i've just picked up a solder station with a damaged temperature sensor in the Iron. I've nothing left of the sensor so can't measure it and the chip in the controller is stamped up weller so cant id that. Does anyone have an incling of the type of sensor used? I'm assuming its either platinum resistance or thermister. Cooper tools can only give a part number and don't know the spec. The base is model EC1300A.
Thanks
Chris
