The boards are about 85 dollars a piece, I'm real curious if this fixed your tv??

also, if anyone could link me to some tech info to read up on this further.

thanks for any info

Did you try googleing the part numbers for the upper and lower drive boards?

Samsung actually extended my warranty to cover the cost of parts and labor. It was because there was a mix up with Samsung and the repair shop that was supposed to evaluate my TV. I complained to Samsung but wasn't expecting too much because I was out of warranty. However, Samsung paid for the repair because of the inconvenience. I was surprised and pleased that they offered that to me.

Sounds about right, how much did they charge?

I just had my HP-R4252 repaired on 12.05.09 and it looked exactly like these photos. The picture is covered in horizonal, broken lines and the color is predominately red. They lines are grouped together in large bands across the screen.

The tech replaced the Y-Buffer boards (Up) and (Low) in about 20 minutes.

Same problem to start with but now has NO picture with sound. Could it be one or both of the boards?

Hi minnie and thanks for the reply.

Is there any way to determine if it's the Y sustain or the Y buffers?

When I mess with each of the pots on the Ysus it does affect the picture. Not sure if this means it's functioning or not.

Thanks!

I'd say Y sustain and Y driver boards need to be replaced. You need to check the VS and VA voltage along with the vset.
