There is a defective solder joint on one of the chips on the DSP board.
Try a seach on google for vsx no sound issue. It's out there somewhere.
Good news, it'a a simple repair.

Following to the last.
The defective solder joint is on ic9374 located on the DSP board.
If you examine the chip under a X10 scope, you will notice that some of the solder conections are dry.
They can be reflowed by any competent electronics repair shop.

I have repaired about 6 of these todate. Same symptoms, same defect, same repair.

There probably are some dry solder joints or bad cable connections in this amplifier.

Just switch on the amp, and gentley tap on the chassis with an isolated screwdriver.

If the sound "jumps" back on, there almost certainly is a bad solder joint / connection.

Good Luck,

PostPosted: Mon Jul 18, 2005 8:08 pm    Post subject: Pioneer Elite VSX-27TX

I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-27TX. However, most of the time I can't get any sound. Now and then afer 15 to 20 minutes of leaving it on it comes to live. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
