My SP5700 was working just fine but I had to box it up and left it unused for over 3 years since I had a overseas employment. Now it does not start up! No lights and none of the buttons work either on the projector or on its remote. My power cable is just fine.

I have read a bunch of discussions on the power problems with this model. Can anyone suggest/advice me on this? I'm in India at this time and I bought the projector in Houston, TX.

Thanks.

Caps are polarity sensitive. Make sure you put it in the correct way.

In case any of you who contributed to this thread are still reading - a BIG thank you for all your input and taking the trouble to share your knowledge.

I just dismantled my Infocus Screenplay 7200 and replaced the tricky to reach behind the heat sink but very clearly marked, as C16, 16v 100uF capacitor. This cured the problem of a non functional projector that just ticked whenever turned on.

One additional tip is that to dismantle the 7200 case, remove the 4 T10 screws and then remove the back and pull the panel off the front of the handle. the top then comes away easily.

Once again, thanks for all your help. Warm glows all round!

Please Dodgey, can you help me

Do you have any picture of the other side of the power supply around the C 16 caps

Many many thanks to help me

I had problem soldering, power supply does'nt works, and I want to check if I burnt something around my soldering.

If no, do you have any idea where I can found pictures, I looked for and didn't find anything.

Thank you again

Hello,

Exactly the same with an Infocus 7200

Ronparchita

I replace the one on the center of the card by a "condensateur 100uF 16V électrolytique". Here it's the name. Smile
No chance, no more green light now Sad
Please, how can I find the schematic of the Power Supply just to find what is wrong with mine.

Many thanks for your help Very Happy

I'd like to repair it but I don't know if it's the same capacitor and what data I need to buy the right one, and after how can I find it in the 7200 to try to replace it.

Please, would you like to help me.

Many thanks

Hey all, I had this same problem with my SP5700 after about 3500hrs, (ca.300hrs on second bulb). The Pj stopped starting up. Power button showed the vague green light flickering instead of strong steadt.
After reading online I tried the hairdryer tip and it worked. I also read that it was most likely the cap marked C16 by the heatsink that needed replacing. (I had not come around to do it.)

To start up the projector, I would blow hot air untill the weak green flickering became a steady strong green light, then the projector would start up. So after a about 5 or 6 times using the hairdryer I noticed when turning the unit off, that the lightbeam would not turn off instantly like normal but instead, a clear/reddish vague light would stay on after I turned it off. I was startled by this and unplugged the power cable.

The next time I was going to turn on the pj using the hairdryer, the power button did not start with a dim green flickering... but came up steady, strong green already, but no reaction from the power switch. It is DEAD..
Now If I leave it plugged in, the projector starts to heat up and feels warm after about an hour plugged in.

So to sum things up, for past few weeks, when plugged in, power button was weak green flickering until hairdryer made it pop to steady green, then pj worked.
Now, when plugged in, the power button is instantly steady strong green but pj does not work. And heats up when plugged in. Any Ideas.

Thanks, Wally, Iceland.
ps. nice pictures dodgey

Could anyone tell me if the 100uf cap that is right inside the heatsink is listed as c16 and is a 16v

Mr Gunnell - you were 100% correct! Smile

Afrter reading up on how to desolder old circuit boards, then finally prising the bugger off, and badly soldering a new 25v 100uf cap on, whihc I had lying around, she fired up 1st time! YAY!

Thanks all

Soo. for search reference: Infocus Screenplay 5700 no power, clicking, heat, hair dryer - replace the 100uf 16v capacitor in the center of the power supply - the one right next to a heat sink

Thanks again everyone for your input.
