Detroit's a lot closer to Chicago than to Boston. Whether my friend wants to pay to ship it there (or whether you want to pay shipping) is probably another question. However, and the world is always full of options. I have an extended length Chevy Trailblazer (nearly as big as a Suburban), and my wife has a very close friend who lives in one of Chicago's southern suburbs she occasionally drives to see. Maybe we can work out something that way. In the mean time, I'll let my friend know you might be interested and I'll facilitate hooking the two of you up so that he can send you some photos of the console (I took some hard copies with me to a SMAC meeting last weekend).
