If the large power supplycapacitor is weak. The largest capacitor on the board.Usually 250 volt.near the flyback transformer. This can cause the picture to do all kinds of weird things. They go bad on older tvs.

You could try resoldering the vertical ouput device pins. Wink

Hey all!

I've got a question about my good ol' 28" Sharp TV (28HW 53E). It's getting quite old, but still works fine; expect there's this ugly distortion in the image that started occurring some months ago.

There's a somewhat dozen of black lines in the upper and lower part of the screen that keeps jumping or flickering up and down, distorting the picture by stretching it where they're present.

This problem used to go away as the TV'd been powered on for a while, but now it seems the lower part (which makes subtitles almost unreadable) don't ever go away.

Is this something you can fix yourself (I don't know much about this stuff, but I sadly doubt it), or do ya have to pay loads of money to get it fixed?

Thank you for your time!
