Input out of range? That's a common one with Vista. Simple trick to fix it, though.

Make sure the computer (computer! the box!) is powered off. Then, switch it on. While the computer starts up, and is at the HP/Dell/etc. logo (BEFORE the Windows logo or the "bar" crap that Vista does), repeatedly mash the F8 key. If you get to the Windows logo or the "loading bar" of Vista, it's too late - power off the PC and try again. May be a good idea to tap it about once a second starting from the moment you power on the PC. If you get a keyboard error, ignore it (may have to hit F1, how ironic) and keep tapping it.

Once you get to a menu of maintenance options, such as "Safe Mode" and "Start Windows Normally", select the option "Enable VGA Mode". VGA mode will use a monitor mode that any screen will support.

After you get back to your desktop (and you will, if you got this far), dance for glee and make slight celebration. Then, search Google for "change screen resolution" and follow those directions. If Vista corners you in a bad resolution again, repeat the above steps and stop using that (particular) screen resolution.

It's actually not the monitor's fault, if you were able to see the computer's startup logo before the "out of range" error. Windows Vista is really bad at detecting screen resolutions. The resolution can be switched to a setting that the screen doesn't support, and then you're stuck with no way to set it back - kind of a catch-22. Microsoft developed the "Enable VGA Mode" option to get yourself out of such situations, if you know how to get to it. Wink

Hope this helped!

Hi Jeremiahw,
Me Lara, I read your entire post and I will give you solution.
This type of problem occurs only when if monitor does not support screen resolution.
So try to change resolution of your computer system.
This will definitely solve your problem.
