Marantz PM-44SE (special-EDT) amp volume/channel fault:
Started with crackling/ static when adjusting the volume dial. (All connections - plus positives checked.). Noticed when I moved the amp to check the connections volume changed - like something was loose internally. Felting with the dial it can be fine. Although when not; 'one' side speaker channel plays at an ultra low/ muted frequency range, etc. Intermittent problems related here. Questions?
a) volume dial problem - can it be repaired - how?
b) other soldering circuit problem/ s - can it be fixed?
c) who here on the forum can I turn to to have it repaired?
d) is it worth having repaired/ looked at?
e) can not find the service manuals/ blue prints here?
f) will running too thick copper speaker cables 6-8 mm), maplins filtered mains leeds, plus a sub-woofer have anything to do with the problem?
(Over-load and or any other unknowns.).
Would love to fix this amp as it has a warm natural tone working well with our Arcam Cd player and Kef speakers, etc. (Hopefully - if feasible?).
Any direction here and or experience on this subject topic related will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sorry for the long post. Thought to highlight the complete picture. |
