You could try upgrading the TV's firmware.
But before you do that, go into your PS3 settings:
> Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Output Settings > HDMI
Uncheck every sound option that you can. There will be two greyed out sounds options that you cannot uncheck. Some TV's have problems processing anything besides the base (grayed out) sound settings. |

| when I turn on the TV the screen first is black and says "Please wait" then shows "component 1" then the screen (which would normally turn to a great picture) goes white/grey. the sound is perfect just no picture. any idea what is wrong? |
