I got this CRT TV for nothing. I successfully fixed a folded display problem and thought everything was OK, but then I realized the TV has another, more subtle problem. The brightness is uneven, i.e. the left side of the picture is darker than the right side. This is particularly obvious when displaying a black image. It annoys me and I would like to fix that.

What should I look at? I used to work in the electronics field, but that was ages ago. I don't have much experience in TV repair, but I know a few things about TVs and video. I remember one can adjust the color purity by moving the yoke on the CRT's neck. Is brightness also affected? Or should I look at the horizontal drive circuit? I would intuitively suspect there's a bad capacitor in that circuit.

I have the schematics for this TV. I also have the service manual, but I don't have the original remote control, which is used to access a secret service menu. However, I doubt the hidden settings would allow me to solve that uneven brightness problem.

Thank you for your time!
