What you want to make sure is the ability of the solar panel to provide enough current. Of course your voltage has to be reduced but not quite sure of any reliable operation? Even with the latest technology, the biggest draw back with solar panels are drive current capability. that is why in most practical operations, there is always more than one panel involved. Most systems are set up where the solar panel actually serves as a trickle charger to a rechargeable battery and the battery provides the energy source.

Most likely, your radio will draw a lot more than the 170ma max rating of your panel unless you can come up with some sort of a panel array.

Hey! I'm trying to wire a solar panel I have up to a radio.
The radio has an adapter with the specs that follow.
Input - AC 120V 60Hz 13W
Output - DC 9V 0.9A
The solar panel I have has the following on the back.
Max Power : 3.2 W
Voltage at max power : 18.8 V
Current at max power : 170 mA

I'm fairly certain that the solar panel puts out DC.

I'm a little lost, any guidance would be great!
